Adjudication
Paula Melville-Clark is an experienced adjudicator and examiner with extensive experience across piano performance, music education and pedagogy. She is available to adjudicate competitions, eisteddfods and festivals bringing an encouraging and constructive approach that recognises achievement while providing performers with meaningful feedback for their continued development.
Master Classes
Drawing on her extensive background in Dalcroze and movement-based music education, her approach goes beyond traditional masterclass teaching. Movement, rhythm, gesture, listening and physical experience can become part of the process of exploring a work, helping performers discover more natural ways of understanding pulse, phrasing, articulation, structure and musical expression.
This embodied approach to musical learning is a distinctive feature of Paula's teaching and has developed through many years of working with students and teachers at all levels. Rather than simply telling a performer what to change, the aim is to help them experience and understand the musical idea, so that changes in performance arise from deeper musical awareness.
Masterclasses can be tailored for piano students, teachers, tertiary students, examination candidates, conferences and professional-development events, and may focus on performance, interpretation, pedagogy or the integration of movement into musical learning.
